Nicholas Gjerde grew up in the small town of Lafayette, MN where he attended a local K-8 charter school and earned the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 2 of the Boy Scouts of America. He then attended a nearby public high school where he was a member of the student council, writer’s guild, and varsity knowledge bowl team. After graduation, he began his studies at Minnesota State University, Mankato before transferring to the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities where he graduated on the Dean’s list with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies.
Nicholas now studies Development Practice at Harvard University through the Extension School’s ALM program. He is interested in working towards and implementing policies that would provide true longevity of the planet through social, economic, and ecological sustainability. Nicholas also loves reading science-fiction and spending time with his dog, Onyx.
