The Harvard Extension Service & Leadership Society, in conjunction with the Program On Negotiation at Harvard Law School, presents “Power Dynamics In Negotiations”. Two panels, two topics, one outstanding event.

12:00 - 2:30pm: Panel 1 - Personal & Financial Negotiations
This panel workshop will examine how to use negotiation strategies in personal finance for banking, real estate and overall wealth generation; and practical “nuts & bolts” negotiating tips. This panel features:

Mark Passacantando (RFC, MBA), Managing Member of Financial Planning Partners LLC, who teaches personal financial planning at Harvard University and Boston University, is the current chairman for the Financial Planning Association of Massachusetts, and

Moshe Cohen (MBA), President of The Negotiating Table, who teaches the Negotiations course at Boston University, serves on mediation panels for the World Bank & NASD.

2:30 - 5:30pm: Panel 2 - Culture, Ethnicity & Race In Negotiations
This panel workshop will be a ground-breaking discussion on various aspects of identity and power in negotiations such as how the perception of power affects culture, ethnicity & race in negotiations. This panel features:

Dr. Jeswald Salacuse, Henry J. Braker Professor Of Law at Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy at Tufts, who specializes in international investment law, international negotiation, and international business transactions. Dr. Salacuse holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School, is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and is on the executive committee and faculty of the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School; 

Dr. Leonard Kopelman, who has lectured on Law & Management at Harvard University for 30 years including Harvard Law School, Harvard Business School, Harvard College and Harvard Extension School. He serves as the Consul General of the Republic of Finland (for Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont & Rhode Island), the Director General of the International Consular Corps and the past state chairman of the American Bar Association Committee of Diplomatic and Consular Law. He has JD from Harvard Law School.   

The Honorable Kenneth E. Reeves, the first African-American City of Cambridge Mayor for 3 terms, and Cambridge City Councilor for 18yrs. He holds JD from Michigan Law School and AB from Harvard College;

Dr. Ashleigh Shelby Rosette is Assistant Professor of Management at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. She is also a Fellow at the Center for the Study of Race, Ethnicity and Gender in the Social Sciences and has a Ph.D. in Management and Organizations from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University;

Dr. Fernando Yepez, Managing Director at Arcana Consulting, who has been director at PriceWaterhouseCoopers and a senior executive at Arthur Andersen, brings 20 years of consulting experience in a wide variety of industries with special expertise in Latin-American business as well as in Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas. He holds PHD in Economics from the University of Wisconsin; and

Carole Copeland Thomas, President of C. Thomas & Associates, an HR/Diversity Consultant, has been an adjunct faculty member of Bentley College for 10yrs and served on the board of overseers of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and the Commonwealth Advisory Board for Sovereign Bank. She holds MBA from Northeastern University.

There will be book giveaways and book-signing by Jeswald Salacuse for The Global Negotiator, which deals with culture and negotiation; Leading Leaders, which applies negotiation to the tasks of leadership; and Seven Secrets for Negotiating with Government, his most recent book published in January 2008.
