Mission

Established in 2001, the Harvard Extension Student Association (HESA) serves more than 16,000 students annually at Harvard Extension, one of Harvard University’s 13 schools. HESA’s mission is to build and foster a strong sense of community among the Extension School’s diverse student body, including our distance education students from around the world. Through a myriad of initiatives, HESA aims to enrich the Harvard Extension student experience by creating opportunities to develop lifelong friendships.

Krishan Arora – President

Krishan is an A.L.B Degree candidate at Harvard Extension. This is Krishan’s second year serving as President of HESA along with serving as a Representative at Large for the Harvard Graduate Council. He also was recently appointed to be the 2013 Harvard Campus Representative for Apple. Having been involved with the Harvard wide student community for over 2 years now, Krishan has collaborated on many events such as the 2011 and 2013 Harvard Leadership Conference, Harvard Masquerade Ball, TEDxCambridge, TEDxSomerville, Harvard 375th and the Lectures that Last event. Concentrating in Economics with a minor in Management, Krishan brings his extensive knowledge of event management to this team. His interests lie in the fields of astrophysics and technology, as he loves spending time watching informative nature documentaries and eating Thai food.

Monika Lutz – Vice President

Monika is the first female vice president of The Harvard Extension Student Association (HESA) and the first female HES student elected to the Board of Directors of the prestigious Harvard Cooperative Society. She has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, TIME, Glamour, and Honor Student Magazine as well as authoring articles in USA Today, The Colorado Daily, and many more. Monika is a published author and an ALB degree candidate concentrating in Government with a double minor in Mandarin Chinese and General Management. Monika was a distance student in Shanghai, Singapore and Washington D.C. prior to moving to Cambridge. She previously participated in HESA by serving as the Distance Student Ambassador in 2011-2012. Outside of Harvard, Monika is an avid traveler, tea enthusiast, and runner. She is here to serve you!

Derrick Ambrose – Director of Communications

Hailing from South Florida, Derrick currently resides in Cambridge and is an ALB candidate concentrating in English with a minor in Business Communications. Outside of Harvard, Derrick has enjoyed a successful literary career, having been featured in various publications.

Pan Du – Director of Technology

A Massachusetts native originally from Shanghai, Pan is currently an ALM degree candidate in Biotechnology. Outside of Harvard, Pan works full-time in the pharmaceutical industry. He holds a BS magna cum laude from UMass Amherst, and is board certified by American Society for Clinical Pathology. LinkedIn

Alexandria Robins – Director of Clubs Affairs

Alexandria is an ALB degree candidate concentrating in Government with a minor in Economics. She is living in Cambridge but is a proud Atlanta native. She has worked in politics on the state and national level focusing on women’s advocacy. In her free time, Alexandria is an avid runner and tennis player. She aspires to attend law school after graduating in 2016.

Tyssina Paka – Director of Information Systems

A French native, Tyssina is currently an ALB degree candidate in Political Science and resides in New York. Possessing a strong technical background, he’s currently Project Manager at Straline. He’s the person responsible for software development and website updates. LinkedIn
