What skills and/or experience do you possess that is of relevance to the position?

I got involved with HESA in fall of 2011. Appointed as the Head Representative by the current administration, I took flight and jumped at any opportunity that came towards me. I have spear-headed every major initiative that HESA has set out since last fall and am continuing to positively impact the Harvard Extension student community. Some of my major Harvard wide project involvements have been:

1. Harvard 375th Parade – Deans Executive Liaison
2. Harvard Leadership Conference – Documentation and logistics
3. TEDxCambridge event held at Harvard – Logistics and Operations
4. Harvard Masquerade Ball – Lead Stage Manager / Lead Director
5. TEDxSomerville event held at Somerville Armory – Lead Stage Manager
6. OneHarvard: Lectures that Last – Lead Stage Manager

Having built a strong rapport with the current faculty and administration at 51 brattle st, I not only know my HES peers well but also frequently visit the administration to give HESA updates and keep the faculty and staff involved with their student organization. I am heavily involved with the local ‘TEDx’ community in Boston and currently maintain a 4.0 GPA. Encouraged to run for president by many of the current HESA directors and fellow colleagues, I have many projects and initiatives in mind to take HESA to new heights. I can be reached at my email – Krishan.Arora@HESA.dce.Harvard.edu and I am offering 1 on 1 sessions with any student who wants to discuss any details in regards to my campaign, how to get involved or the future of HESA. Please visit www.KrishanMon2013.com for all further details and inquiries.

Name: Monika Lutz

Position Sought: HESA Vice President

Degree Program: ALB

What other commitments do you have or are involved in?

I am presently the 2011-2012 HESA Distance Student Ambassador and the 2011-2012 Deputy Director of PR for the Harvard Extension Business Association. Please visit www.KrishanMon2013.com for any other details in regards to my campaign.

What skills and/or experience do you possess that is of relevance to the position?

Passion and experience with a distance perspective is what I will bring to HESA.

As the HESA Distance Ambassador, I interact with the distance population and work with the Dean of Students to address our biggest concerns. During the day, I work full time from Washington, D.C. and study/log on for classes at night. Having lived and worked in 9 cities across 5 countries and three continents, I understand from first-hand experience the struggles that Distance Students encounter. My breadth of international experience gives me a unique, multi-lens perspective and ability to work seamlessly across cultures.

Balancing at 3.9 GPA at school, working full time, and adapting to foreign environments has taught me how to manage a heavy load of internal and external forces while honing delegation and time management skills, which are essential for any Vice-Presidential candidate. Focusing on the distant student experience, I have distinct outlines for how we can improve the out-of-class HES experience. I have been featured in The Wall Street Journal; TIME; Forbes; Fox News; Honor Student Magazine, Glamour, and more. My professional experience with The European Union Delegation to the USA, USA TODAY, Special Assignment to the United States Congress and International Public Relations and Marketing firms aptly prepares me to work in changing environments with confidence and dexterity.

Name:  BYRON-PANAGIOTIS KAKLOPOULOS

Position Sought: VICE-PRESIDENT

Degree Program: ALM IN MANAGEMENT

What other commitments do you have or are involved in?

FULL-TIME JOB IN ALPHA BANK S.A. (SECURITIES AND DERIVATIVE PRODUCTS MONITORING OFFICER)

What skills and/or experience do you possess that is of relevance to the position?

Having served as a President, Vice-President and General Secretary of the Student Council throughout my college years, for 3 consecutive years, I was always passionate to face new challenges and be on the front-line for dealing with Students’ problems. My working experience in Banking as well as my Finance Studies, made me more capable to combine my passion for Politics with the increased significance of Cost and Financial Management of the Organizations I participate. As a consequence, I have gathered throughout the years a diversified and vague knowledge concerning such demanding political positions, as the one that I am running for: The Vice-President of Harvard Extension School Association.

What do you hope to accomplish next year in the case of acquiring the position?

Having served in multiple positions in the Greek Banking sector for the past 5 years, I have realized that life is full of mini-crises. It needs strong self-esteem, strong effort and teamwork to overcome the arising obstacles. That’s the main reason that I am running for Vice-President, to promote a more organized image of the Harvard Extension School Association and make each extension School Student an active part to it. United we go forth, divided we go nowhere. Making HESA synonymous to each Student at Harvard Extension School, building a strong networking system, organizing more social events, and setting forward international HESA events throughout the world are some of the goals I would like to accomplish. To build a trustworthy relationship with the President and the other Executive Members of HESA is the basis of success.
